TheftGuard
Secure BIOS based product that protects your laptops computer from theft and assists in recovering and destroying stolen data.
Softex TheftGuard adds security to your laptop computer using a unique, patent pending BIOS based software solution. When your laptops is stolen, TheftGuard can track the location of the device and disable it from further use. TheftGuard can also remotely recover and destroy the data on the stolen computer. Unlike the existing solutions that are not based in the BIOS chip of the comptuer, the user cannot simply remove the security by reformatting their hard drive. This is because the secured part of the TheftGuard system that resides in the system BIOS will protect against the unauthorized removal of the application from the hard disk.

TheftGuard is a charged to the end user as a yearly service. For the OEM laptop manufacturer, the TheftGuard components are free and add no cost to the platform. The OEM customer can share in the revenue generated from the TheftGuard service, which leads to an additional revenue stream for the OEM for the entire life of the PC.
